EFAF welcomes five new full members
EFAF General Assembly at Helsinki March 28, 2009
EFAF GA 28th March 2009(c)EFAF
(2009-04-01) The EFAF annual General Assembly, held March 28th in Helsinki, Finland, granted full membership status for five federations. The European Federation of American Football now consists of 18 full members.
The General Assembly agreed that the sport has developed in Hungary, Poland and Serbia to a level that those federations could be upgraded from associated members to a full member -status. This means for example that those countries are now allowed to vote in the General Assembly.
The other two new full members are from countries that have had that status before, the Ukraine and Italy. The GA granted full membership status for the new federations replacing the old ones in those two countries.
Also, the federations of Luxembourg and Moldova were upgraded from temporary members to associated members.
"This marks a historic day. Never, since the creation of our generation has there been such growth", EFAF president Robert Huber said at the General Assembly.
"Likewise this increase in young members is motivation for the longstanding EFAF members. It is refreshing to see in these young federations dynamic and individual initiative exists."
The EFAF Board of Directors also got a new member in Helsinki, as the president of the Irish American Football Association, Mr Greg Loughran was elected to the board.
